I did this piece in another concentrated burst of creative jamming with Alyson Boote. We created the first cut of the video in about 48 hours out of bits and pieces of stuff we’d made during the past 18months… photos, photo sequences, claymations, pencil animations, etc… we’d been making clay figurines which had been amassing on the top of our fridge for a while until Alyson put them to work in front of her camera and jammed out a bunch of new claymations while I animated more stills. The story kept changing and elements were added and dropped along the way, but the main idea of these two little characters running around adventuring through this weird universe in different forms remained the same. We started the piece with the intention to submit it to a contest on Adult Swim. We’d been watching a lot of 12oz. Mouse and so everytime we asked ourselves “does this make sense?” we thought about thte mouse and realized that if we wanted it to make sense we had to pick a different point of reference.
